Water consumption for mostly every use should come from the oceans via Desalinization Plants. Using water from this source provides us with the only chance at saving cities like New York and countless others, which are situated at or near sea level. It is my suggestion that we encourage persons, businesses and governments to use water from this source without restriction. In fact, we would encourage use in every conceivable way bordering on abandon. We would use desalinized water for everything. This would include drinking, animal production, farming, manufacturing processes, watering our lawns and gardens, etc. We should take the concepts that The Romans developed and expand on it globally to build a network of aqueducts worldwide, where appropriate. The aqueducts can refill lakes, streams and aquifers that have become depleted from continued over-extraction. These aqueducts can be powered by pumps that are serviced by solar panels and ‘corkscrew’ wind vane power generators alongside of the aqueducts. If we can pump oil across Alaska then we can certainly pump water to all of the inhabited regions of the Earth. This would relieve the stress on nations that are in traditionally arid regions. Approximately one-third of the world’s population lives in countries with moderate to high water stress. Consider that this can be solved by the provision of desalinized water to all populations. However, even if every country built these plants and used the water for merely just those purposes mentioned above the reduction in sea levels might remain relatively unaffected or possibly even continue to rise. The next section offers the solution to considerable water usage to draw down the impending rise of oceanic sea levels.

THIS PROBLEM HAS ALREADY BEEN SOLVED!!!!!
You’re forgetting one thing the water shotage problem has been solved by technology. Google: AIR to WATER Machines.
There is trillions of gallons of water in the air and these machines can continually suck the water from the air. This is similar to what nature does already when you find water dew on the ground in the morning. There is no need for huge desalination plants because the more moisture you suck out of the air the more the oceans will evaporate clean, naturally desalinated water into the air. Its a naturally sustained cycle.
They’ve already deployed these machines in areas where natural disasters had occured and clean water was needed in large amounts. You can also buy smaller home units that will give you all the clean water you could want. I even know of one company which has made one of these machines to run off solar power, making thousands of galons of water every day, and having a zero energy footprint.
Another advantage to this approach is that the water taken from the air has already been naturally cleaned, so it is much easier and less energy consuming to remove any remaining impurities.
Anyway, just thought I would inform you to this exiting technology.

Hi David,
Thanks so much for the reply. We need as many voices involved as possible.
I am not a scientist or climatologist. I work in Information Technology and focus on solutions from concept to application. In this context I have done some research and a comprehensive solution revealed itself to me. I am just one person with an idea. How the mechanics of these solutions get done is for those that have expertise in those areas. However, when applying logic, it appears at first glance that drawing tons of water from the air essentially ‘dehumidifies’ the atmosphere, which I am guessing would compound our issues. Moving tons of salt water to dried up fresh water lakes and basins and allowing that to evaporate would enhance the natural ‘rain’ mechanism of the atmosphere and provide more water in aggregate.
Maybe others can offer their ideas. That’s what this site is meant to do. Make people feel pressed to do something about this. It’s not important to me that it be me or my idea. I just want to see it happen … now!!!
My efforts on this site are designed to push this conversation to the forefront globally since we appear to be without a comprehensive roadmap to resolving these issues. Please bear in mind that we are cleansing the atmosphere, solving the water and food crisises for millions, drawing down ocean levels that are rising, saving The Gulf Stream etc … Some pretty big issues.
This proposal is a global comprehensive solution and has become a passionate quest to see us have a fighting chance at stabilizing or even reducing the rise in global temperatures and the global rise in sea levels. It is pure logic that generated this solution and proposal. I do not have any affiliations. I do not come from a ‘Green’ nor ‘Conservative’ platform. This cannot be divided by religion or culture. We as humans have the ‘Opposable Thumb’ and are the vanguards for every other species on the planet. Surely we can solve this problem.
Please take a very high-level conceptual overview of the entire proposal. I think that you will see that there are limited options available to us ‘conceptually’. We must address the issues that have been sequentially addressed in this proposal because each one of them is tremendously significant. Presently we have many separate ideas floating about. But what we need is a blueprint to combine all of these into a ’solution’. I would like to point us in the direction where there is a definitive approach and get working on it. I just feel like the hour is getting late in discussing and we need to be following a roadmap to success.
