Conclusion

This entire document was catalyzed by continual sensory input from television, radio, newspapers and the Internet regarding the delicate state of the planet and the profound issues surrounding the advent of Global Warming.  The final episode for me was a radio advertisement telling me that we need to make sure that we aren’t wasteful with our water or it will run out.  Our problem is that we have too much water.  I have been researching and looking for solutions.  To date, I have not located a single solution that takes the entire broad stroke approach to a global situation.  This is no longer a local, state or national issue.  This is our survival as a species that I’m talking about in this document.

Water may engulf many of our cities worldwide.  We need to consume this water to have any possibility of preserving the existence of those cities.  This proposal solves the issues surrounding food shortages forever.  It will feed the entire population of the Earth many times over.  We would be insulated from droughts.  It provides for a surplus of fuel.  This proposal provides for multiple fuel sources that can never be in short supply again.  This proposal may be our only chance at saving The Gulf Stream.  We need the massive quantities of salt to protect The Gulf Stream with the hope of avoiding the possibility of the advanced arrival of another Ice Age.  All of these major issues are resolved and a natural cleansing mechanism for healing the Earth’s atmosphere is delivered at the same time.  I’ve not heard of an economically attainable mechanism that can be deployed to cleanse the atmosphere of the damage that we have already incurred.  This proposal will do so.  I actually can no longer see an option whereby we cannot execute on this proposal.  If we do not then the borders of all of the continents may change due to the swelling of the oceans, the majority of the most populated areas may end up under water or ice, thousands of species may vanish forever and possibly we do as well eventually.

This proposal creates economic prosperity in almost every way.  Not one aspect of this proposal is a financial burden to our GNP without an equalizing financial benefit.  In fact, it jump starts our economy in so many ways.  The important concept here is that it is ‘economically attainable’.  This entire blueprint puts our planet on a road to markets based on resources that have value instead of the derivative-model that we have embraced to our detriment recently.  Many of the social and financial structures that I am proposing will significantly reshape social constructs that are now proving to no longer be in our collective best interests.  We would flourish financially like we do during a wartime economy except that this time we are fighting to save ourselves at this point in time.

Our economy is based on resources.  I submit that we reallocate our resources globally.  Spread the water around and we get food and fuel to spread around as well.  I offer this proposal as my gift to my fellow humans in the hope that something positive can come out of this.  If this document sparks dialogue surrounding these issues that we are facing then I will applaud those that offer their input.  Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines.   We are in a race against time.  The suggestions in this proposal will change the way we live temporarily so that we won’t have to change the way we live permanently.  This is the only proposal that addresses everything that is rapidly upon us.  We are simply out of time.  If we debate this for another 10-15 years before getting started then it may be too late.

We, this generation, are the stewards, the custodians of the planet. It is our obligation to do everything possible to address the issues that could affect our continued existence on Earth. The foundations of the food chain are breaking down in the ocean. We owe it to our children and their grandchildren to put all of our collective intellectual and physical horsepower towards resolution because at this point our worst action is inaction.

Metaphorically, the Earth is whispering to us right now. Is it worth the risk to find out what may be in store for us when she clears her throat and finds her voice?

I submit this challenge to all who read this:

‘If not this proposal then by what other means are we going to save ourselves from this rapidly approaching tipping point with our global environment issues?’

If you cannot come up with or know of a comprehensive solution that charts the course for us then you must act to further that end. I have no financial interest nor do I have a political agenda. I merely have a blueprint for possible success that can either become the solution, be part of the solution or catalyze the solution.

I appreciate all that has been introduced here… I believe this information should be reviewed by those with the intellectual level required to argue it’s pros & cons… I commend you for “finally” getting it all out, and I will continue to pass it on to those that I feel may “react” to it… because at this point that’s what you need, a reaction. Let me know when they come to you via the response mechanism built into your YouTube Presentation, and I in kind will forward the reponses I get… Good Luck to you and to all of us!

    Kirk,

This is a great and well thought out proposal. How would you address the logistics of getting the world to unite to support this proposal given the historical and current divisions? How would you temper this proposal against our (the global world, not just the US) addiction to petrochemicals? And how would we fund this proposal and fixing our healthcare system and our political system and our oil gluttony all at the same time? What do you think it would take to build enough infrastructure (healthcare, and basic amenities) in the rural future farming communities to entice people to actually live there and how would we fund this? If you had $7 billion (versus $700 billion), what would you propose to do first and how? Who would manage the effort? Do you envision a consortium like the European Union or the Internet Governance Forum?

I personally think that there are many bright phoenix that could rise from the ashes of corporate welfare with the help of the billions of dollars provided to the dead and dying behemoths. And those new companies, with the ingenuity of the human spirit could rise above all that we have previously created. But the question remains, where is the tipping point, and what do each of us, every day, need to commit to, to make it happen… The next question you have to answer here is HOW DO WE GET THERE AND WHAT IS OUR FIRST STEP?

I love your essay and tghere is no doubt that your thinking reflects the concerns of millions of people, many of whom are afraid to contemplate the issues deeply because of the fear and distress it can cause.
Nonetheless it is encumbent upon philosophers to countenance the risks and options.
I have a small set of inventions which are directly in line with your scenario, and include some issues you have not touched upon such as utilising the waste stream beneficially in rebuiulding land and forests.

    • I appreciate the positive feedback. I know that there are those that do have fear. I am not one of them. I have greatly expanded the original work but have not posted anything for quite some time. I will be monitoring this consistently going forward. I am not an inventor but I am a personality type that fits pieces together when performing analysis. I am very solutions-oriented. My philosophy is to fix things … whatever they may be. If I can learn about your solutions then I can speak of them in my speeches. I can put you in touch with others that contact me that may be on a similar track. Sometimes more than one mind working on a given issue unveils solutions that cannot be seen with a single mind. I would be very interested to hear about your ideas and inventions.
